Heart disease covers conditions that affect the heart's arteries, muscle, valves or rhythm. Coronary artery disease — narrowing of the arteries that supply the heart — is the most common form.

Arthritis is joint inflammation that causes pain and stiffness. Treatment usually starts with medication, physiotherapy and weight management, with surgery considered only in advanced cases.

A hernia happens when tissue pushes through a weak spot in the muscle wall, often showing as a bulge in the groin or abdomen. Hernias do not heal on their own.

Gallstones are hardened deposits in the gallbladder. Many cause no trouble at all, but some trigger pain after meals, inflammation or jaundice and need treatment.

Kidney stones are hard deposits that form in the kidneys. Small stones may pass on their own; larger ones can block the urinary tract and cause severe pain that needs urgent care.

Asthma narrows and inflames the airways, causing wheezing, coughing and breathlessness. Most people control it well with inhalers and by managing their triggers.
