What are the warning signs of a stroke?
Sudden drooping on one side of the face, weakness in an arm or leg, and slurred or confused speech are the classic three. Sudden loss of vision, severe imbalance or a sudden extremely severe headache also count. Treatment for stroke is time-critical, so call for an ambulance or come to the emergency department immediately — do not wait to see whether it passes.
When is a headache serious?
Seek urgent care for a headache that comes on suddenly and is the worst you have experienced, or one accompanied by fever with a stiff neck, weakness, confusion, visual loss or a fit. Get a non-urgent assessment for headaches that are becoming more frequent or severe, wake you from sleep, or are not controlled by your usual treatment.
Can migraines be prevented?
